Teaching and Learning

In the Texas Long Range Plan for technolgy there is a section that is called teaching and learning. In this section it describes the need to have access to relevant technology, tools and resouces for individualized instruction. Teacher must have the ability to use this information and communications technologies to collaborate and provide real world solutions. With the data age of students we must be able to effectively give them varied formats of instruction that will challenge and intrigue them. Teachers have to become effective communicators and research methods that are strategically centered around technology. Local school districts have responded to this mandate by allowing teachers to have access to more and more technology to experiment and develop strategies for their specific fields of study. Now we have to ask ourselves what will move us to the next level. It is going to take the teachers having an open mind to change the practices they have taught for all these years. It is also going to take resources to train and prepare these teachers to be effective in the classroom with technology. As we continue to embrace new strategies of teaching and reaching our students through technology, we must continue to raise the standard of learning. Technology is a necessary change that will hep our students to have a greater engagement in their learning.
