The Progress

The state of Texas produces a report each year that documents the progress that is made with our school systems technology integration. The goals are set in the LRPT, Long range plan for technology. What is interesting is that it goes through a process of teacher's self evaluation on their use and implementation of technology in their classrooms. It has four key areas, Teaching and learning, Educator prepartion and development, Leadership, Administration, and instructional support, and Infrastructure. The levels of measure are early tech, developing tech, advanced tech, and target tech. In results from the 2008/2009 school year teachers ranked themselves as 2.95% early tech, 65.7% developing tech, 30.5% advanced tech, and .8% target tech. In the 2009/2010 school year the results were 2.1% early tech, 59.3% developing tech, 37.8% advanced tech, and .9% target tech. The results show that we are making strides toward our goals in technology. Specificially in the movement from developing tech to advanced tech. This shows that we are doing a better job of communicating the neccesity for our teachers to progress to the 21st centurty standards of education. This is definately going to improve our ability to have effective communication and collaboration in our classrooms using digital technology. Our schools advancement is very similiar to the states assessment. We have the majority of our staff in the developing tech category. Our administration continues to provide resources so that we are equipped to take the next step in transforming our classrooms into technology driven learning centers.
